ICSEMA is the direct institutional successor of the International Conference on Sustainable Competitive Advantage (SCA), an annual academic conference series that ran continuously for 14 editions from 2011 to 2024, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED) — a leading public state university in Indonesia — in collaboration with the Bank Indonesia Purwokerto Representative Office.
In 2025, the conference was strategically rebranded as ICSEMA — the International Conference on Sustainable Economics, Management, and Accounting — to sharpen its thematic focus on the environmental and sustainability dimensions of economics, business, and management, while building on the same robust organizational infrastructure, editorial team, and academic network established over the preceding 14 years.
The current edition, ICSEMA 2026, is strategically organized by the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI) Purwokerto Chapter (a registered scientific society), collaborating with the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED) and the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Mataram (UNRAM) — both prominent public state universities — as the principal hosts.
To be held in a hybrid format (with online sessions on July 1, 2026, and onsite sessions in Lombok, Indonesia on July 15–16, 2026), ICSEMA 2026 will focus on the theme: “Navigating the Green Transition: Integrating Finance, Policy, and Sustainable Business Practices”. Building on the success of our inaugural 2025 edition, which engaged researchers from over 25 universities across multiple countries.
We look forward to welcoming scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to Lombok. Join us in exploring innovative solutions to build a smarter, more inclusive, and sustainable future through the lens of green economy and circular governance.
Objectives
Aligned with the overarching theme, “Navigating the Green Transition: Integrating Finance, Policy, and Sustainable Business Practices,” this program serves as a strategic compass to steer the rural economy toward a resilient, eco-friendly future. Effectively navigating this global shift requires a holistic approach—one where green financing, supportive policy frameworks, and sustainable business operations are seamlessly integrated. By focusing on rural Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), this initiative empowers local entrepreneurs to evolve beyond traditional profit models and embrace circular economy principles. In today’s market, where eco-conscious consumers dictate trends, turning production waste into new resources is no longer just an environmental ideal; it is a smart, calculated survival strategy. Through this collaborative forum, stakeholders will bridge the gaps between policy, funding, and on-the-ground operations, unlocking local potential to create high-value, sustainable innovations.
To achieve this vision, the following key objectives have been established:
- To serve as a forum for sharing best practices in circular economy implementation across rural MSMEs.
- To encourage cross-sector collaboration to strengthen and solidify rural economic sustainability.
- To underscore the utilization of waste as valuable raw materials for creative product innovation.
- To explore and leverage the role of technology in supporting efficient and sustainable business models.
- To promote green marketing strategies that elevate the competitiveness of local products in modern markets.
